Beverly Jean Reardon, 76, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at home.
She was born March 4, 1933 in Coffeyville to L.G. and Goldie (Adams) Fenn. She moved with her family to Houston, Texas, returning to Coffeyville in 1939. She attended local schools and worked for the Union Gas System Appliance Office in Coffeyville while attending college.
In 1952 she and Joe Reardon were married in the First Baptist Church at Coffeyville. She worked as a secretary for the Signal Corps at San Louis Obispo, California and for the contract section of the Space Program at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama and Branch Secretary for the Fire Test Section, Corps of Engineers at Fort Belvoir, Virginia while her husband was in the Service. Returning to Coffeyville she worked seven years as secretary to the Tooling Superintendent, Continental Can Company, resigning in 1961 to devote time to her children. During the next ten years her husband followed his career as an Engineer, and the family lived in Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Greenwood, Missouri; Lee's Summit, Missouri; and Lawrence, Kansas, returning to Coffeyville in 1971. She began work as secretary to the administrator, Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in 1972 and retired in 1999 as administrative assistant.
She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church, Coffeyville, former recording secretary of the Gregg Ann Chapter of NSA International, member of the CRMC Auxiliary, and served several years as an officer of the CMH Employee's Association.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, a son, Tom of Wichita, two daughters, Janet (and Doug) Larkin of Tyro, and Kathy (and Randy) Bell of Coffeyville; two sisters, Mitzi Fenn of Troy, Illinois; Linda (and Kenneth) Leander of Assaria, Kansas; two grandchildren, Kenny (and Beth) Hills and Melissa Marie Bell; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Inurnment will be at a later date at Robbins Cemetery.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville
