Faye Bishop, 87, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2009, at her home.
She was born September 19, 1921, in the Lone Cherry community north of Havana, KS to W.B. "Bill" and Mava L. (Aiken) Mann. Faye began her education at the Lone Cherry School where she attended thru the 7th grade, when her family moved to Coffeyville where she completed her education, graduating from Field Kindley High School and Coffeyville Community College.
On December 24, 1939 she married Wayne Bishop at her parent's home in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Faye worked at Sears & Roebuck, and Johnson Lumber Co. When her husband started Bishop Construction Co. she became the bookkeeper and business manager of their family business.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and belonged to several ladies sewing clubs. When her children were in school she belonged to the PTA.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne of the home; one daughter, Darlene Donahue of rural Independence; one son, Merrill Bishop of Coffeyville; four granddaughters, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Bill; and her parents.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Passwater officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the Johnson Cancer Center at Kansas State University; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
