Robert Martin "Bob" Erickson, 87, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 8, 1922, at Coffeyville to Gus A. and Margaret (Ream) Erickson. Bob grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School, and Coffeyville Community College, before attending the University of Kansas.
Bob was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army stationed in the South Pacific. Following his discharge he returned to Coffeyville.
In 1952 he married Mary Lou Rader at Independence, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Bob was an Accountant for many years, he later was Manager of Coffeyville Teachers Credit Union where he worked until retiring.
He was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he served as Senior Warden; was a member of American Legion Post #20, 40 et 8, V.F.W. Post #1022, a former member of the Lions Club, Coffeyville Public Library Board, and U.S.D. #455 Board of Education. Bob was also very active with Coffeyville Cultural Arts.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of the home; three daughters, Dana Gary and husband Brent of Houston, TX, Anne Erickson of Coffeyville, and Dr. Jennifer Hendrick and husband, Dr Jim of Ft. Collins, CO; four grandchildren, Wendy Kovich and husband Matt of The Woodlands, TX, Maggie Skaakal of Coffeyville, Robert Wyman of Houston, TX, Maya Hendrick and Cooper Hendrick both of Fort Collins, CO; and one great-grandson, Fisher Skaakal of Coffeyville.
A Memorial Service and celebration of Bob's life will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 14, 2009 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with Father Jerry Adinolfi officiating. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Episcopal Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS, 67337.
Friends may sign the register book on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
