Coffeyville - Mary Jane Norfleet, 90, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, September 05, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born May 10, 1919 at Shattuck, Oklahoma to Tack and Effa Kathleen (Ashby) Norfleet. The family moved to Coffeyville when she was young, where she attended school graduating from Field Kindley High School. Following high school she attended Emporia State University graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Education. After graduating from Emporia State Miss Norfleet was an Art Teacher at Lowell Elementary School in Coffeyville for five years. She was later employ as a Photo Librarian at Phillips Petroleum Co. in Bartlesville for 30 years. Following her retirement she was continued to make her home in Bartlesville where he lived for 55 years, before returning to Coffeyville to be closer to her family. Mary Jane was a member of the Jubilee Quilters Guild, Sigma Sigma Sigma Social Soroity, Jane Phillips Sorority, Desks and Derricks, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Survivors include three nieces, Kathryn McBurney Laird of Topeka, Diana McBurney VanWinkle of Coffeyville, and Margaret Norfleet Bauer of Edna; on nephew, John McBurney of Liberty, MO; two great-nieces and six great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathreen Norfleet, and Dorothy McBurney, one brother, Norton Norfleet, and one nephew Richard Norfleet. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 7, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville with Pastor Richard Peckman, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be on Tuesday in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family suggests memorials to the charity of the Coffeyville Boys and Girls Club; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
