Coffeyville - Louise Crane Elder, 82, of Farmers Branch, Texas, formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at her home. She was born July 22, 1927 in Dearing, Kansas to Meredith and Sadie (Gordon) Crane. She grew up and attended school in the Dearing and Coffeyville area, graduating from Field Kindley High School. Following high school she attended Texas State College for Women (now known as Texas Woman's University). After receiving her degree in Elementary Education she returned to Coffeyville to teach school. On December 20, 1947 she married Gene O. Elder at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Galveston, TX, LaMarque, TX, Oklahoma City, OK, and Corinth, TX, following her husband's death she moved to Farmers Branch. Her husband preceded her in death in 2002. Louise was a member of the Valley View Christian Church in Dallas, Texas. She was a Docent for 17 years at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK. Survivors include one son, Jay Elder and wife Becky of Bedford, Texas; one daughter, Adriane Young and husband Joe of Farmers Branch, Texas; one sister, Phyllis Pevehouse of Coffeyville; five grandchildren; Paige and Justin Blankinship, Blake Elder, Amy Young, Samantha Young, and E.J. Young; one great-grandson, Brady Hart Blankinship; two nieces, Linda Rewerts of Baton Rouge, LA; Carla Herring and husband Bob of Coffeyville; and one nephew Dr. Jon Pevehouse and wife Betsy of Chicago, IL; five great-nieces, Breann, Brooke, and Bobbi Herring, and Claire and Ava Pevehouse; and one great-nephew Brady Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church Chapel in Coffeyville with Rev. John Collins and Rev. Bob Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from on Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Make-A-Wish Foundation; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
