Obituary of Doris Rogers

Coffeyville - Vera Doris Rogers, age 77, of Caney, Kansas passed away Monday, August 31, 2009 at her residence in Caney, Kansas. She was born May 28, 1932 in Ithaca, New York to Floyd Ivan and Vera Ellen (Ihrig) Rogers. She attended Caney schools and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Kansas City. She was a Registered Nurse and worked at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma until her retirement in 1997. She never married. She was a member of the Tyro Christian Church. She is survived by two brothers, Floyd Eugene Rogers of Vero Beach, Florida and Dennis David Rogers of Topeka, Kansas; one sister, Naomi Marsh of Caney, Kansas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, September 4, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, Kansas with Pastor David Bycroft officiating. Interment will follow at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Tyro Christian Church Building Fund and these remembrances may be left in care of David W.
