Obituary of Donna E. Sherwood

Coffeyville - Donna E. Sherwood, born July 8th, 1932 in Viola, Kansas, died August 30, 2009, in Coffeyville, KS. Donna grew up and attended schools in Wichita, KS, where she also worked as a waitress for several years. It was through her waitressing that she met Ed Sherwood, whom she later married on December 22, 1949. They remained committed to one another until Ed's death on November 15, 1981. Throughout the course of their marriage, Donna and Ed owned and operated restaurants in Wichita, and Cherryvale, Kansas, San Bernadino, CA and Independence and Coffeyville, KS. The business venture Donna and Ed were most proud of was the "TIK-TOK" Restaurant in Humboldt, KS, which they and owned and operated for fifteen years. Donna was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years, one son, Randy, and two grandsons, Christopher and Todd. Donna is survived by her son, Dennis Sherwood and his wife Dorothy of Iola, KS, daughter-in-law Donna Sherwood of Wichita, KS, daughter, Debra Torres and her husband Roy of Rogers, AR, daughter, Terry Savala and her husband Cliff of Dearing, KS, son, Jim Sherwood and his wife Nancy of Poplar Grove, IL; daughter, Paula Hensley and her husband Rick of Coffeyville, daughter, Vickie Bayles and her husband Bob of Lowell, AR. Donna is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held at David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS on Wednesday, September 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The celebration of Donna's life will take place on Thursday, September 3rd, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Southern Baptist Church, Eighth and Overlook in Coffeyville. Burial will take place at the Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale, KS.
