Obituary of Katherine McKinnis

Coffeyville - Katherine F. McKinnis, 85, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Windsor Place. She was born March 8, 1924 in Keeline Wyoming to Alex and Kathaleen (Dreith) Frosheiser. She grew up and attended school in the Keeline area. Following high school she attended the University of Colorado where she received a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse for several years. On May 23, 1952 she married Earl W. McKinnis at Lusk, Wyoming. Following their marriage they made their home in New Castle, Wyoming where they owned and operated a business for many years until retiring. In 1982 they moved to Coffeyville to make their home closer to their daughter. Mr. McKinnis preceded her in death in 1983. Katherine was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Nolte and husband Mark of South Coffeyville, OK; one son, Michael McKinnis and wife Pam of La Grange Highlands, IL; one sister, Betty Lingwood of Florida; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2009 in the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville with Rev. Richard Peckman officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
