Coffeyville - Roscoe Eugene Stevenson, 55, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 29, 1953 at Neodesha, KS to Eugene C. and Blanche (Bowen) Stevenson. He grew up in the Independence area and attended school at Independence, graduating from Independence High School. On May 27, 1977 he married Phyllis Benson at the Oakdale Assembly of God in Nowata County, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Coffeyville where Roscoe was a machinist Funk Mfg. John Deere Coffeyville Works, farmed and raised cattle. He retired from John Deere in February 2009 after 36 years of service. Roscoe was a member of the Lewark Church of God in Coffeyville. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and working with his cattle. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of the home; three daughters, Sarah Stevenson, Jaclyn Stevenson, and Patricia Stevenson all of the home; and one sister, Dorothy Irene Shields of Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in the Lewark Church of God, West 11th and Lewark in Coffeyville, with Pastor Josh Thayer and Pastor J.D. Wright officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to an Education Fund for his daughters; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
