Coffeyville - Julia Javaughn Zillifro, 79, of Coffeyville passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at her home. She was born November 13, 1929 in Independence to George Washington and Sallie Matt (Gibson) Dennis. She grew up and attended school in Independence until she was in the 10th grade when her family moved to Coffeyville where she completed her education graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1948. On May 15, 1949 she married Ralph E. Zillifro in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their family in Coffeyville. Julia was employed at Foodtown and Litwin's. In 1965 she became a data processor for the City of Coffeyville where she was employed until retiring in 1993. Her husband preceded her in death on April 13, 1999. Julia was a member of Emmanuel Chapel in South Coffeyville, OK. She was active in her church and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Sonja Lukens and husband Larry, Stephanie Boley and husband Ron, and Sallie Usher and husband Scott all of Coffeyville; one son, Steve Zillifro and wife Peggy of Coffeyville; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, six sisters, and one granddaughter, Terri Searles on June 25, 2009. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 24, 2009 in Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence with Pastor Ted Rogers officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home The family suggests memorials to the Tatman Cancer Center at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
