Obituary of Ernestine Lee

Coffeyville - Ernestine Lee, age 73, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 16, 1940 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Dan and Edith (Prater) Waltrip. She grew up and attended school in Coffeyville. On December 17, 1957 she married Kenneth Leroy Lee Sr. in Arkansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville before moving to Texas for a short time before coming back to southeast Kansas. Ernestine worked in the housekeeping department at the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband on February 28, 1981. She enjoyed racing, rodeo, country music, Christmas lights and television. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Leroy Lee Jr. of Altamont, Kansas and Jeffery Lynn Lee of Parsons, Kansas; one daughter, Cheryl Ann Lee of Lufkin, Texas; three sisters, Geraldine "Geri" Dubois and husband Robert of Arlingtion, TX, Audrey Meek and husband Martin of Coffeyville, Vickie Myers and husband David of Mound Valley; one brother, Archie "Butch" Waltrip and wife Carol of Collinsville, OK; special nieces and nephews, Stetson, Kyndal, Brayden, Kyle, Kylie, Madison, Karlee, Cayden, Gaige, Cannon, Caysyn, Donny, Zowe, Dante, Ella, and Savanna; a special friend, Jimmy Taylor Jr.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and her parents. Services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the River of Life Tabernacle, West of Coffeyville with Reverend Joe Brooks of the River of Life Tabernacle officiating. Burial will follow at the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville. Friends may call on Monday, December 16, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
