Obituary of Elizabeth Whitaker

Coffeyville- Elizabeth "Susie" Whitaker, age 48, former area resident, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Claremore, OK. Susie was born February 8, 1961, in Dallas, Missouri, to Myron L. and Doris L. (Hardesty) Hill. She attended schools in Augusta, KS and later Tulsa Tech in Claremore. She had been an assistant manager at Wendy's in Coffeyville, and was a loving mother to her sons. On December 5, 1997, she married Matthew Whitaker in Miami, Oklahoma, and he survives at the home. Survivors in addition to her husband, Matthew, of Independence, Kansas, include her two sons, Samuel Matthew Whitaker and Benjamin Ryan Whitaker; a sister, Sandra Jo Kuhn of Joplin, Missouri; two brothers, Jeffrey L. and Greg Hill, both of Wichita; two stepsisters, and a stepfather, Chuck Houser, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeannie Brunton. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Restlawn Cemetery in Coffeyville with Reverend Jimmy Harrington officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM-9:00 PM on Monday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to an educational fund for her sons and may be left with the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
