Coffeyville - Fayette V. Mahan, 92, of Coffeyville, passed away May 26, 2009, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Fayette Vandetta Mahan was born on October 8, 1916 in Washington Township, Crawford County, Kansas to Frank and Willie May (Graham) Porter. She grew up and and attended school in Independence. She was married to Herman Richard, and later to William Mahan, both preceded her in death. During her life she lived in Salina, and Wichita, KS, Gallup, New Mexico, Seattle, Washington, and Alaska. Fayette was a homemaker. Survivors include two sisters, Mary E. Smith of Coffeyville, and Avis Brooks and husband, Isaac of Germantown, Maryland; four brothers, Raymond Cain and wife, Wilmarie of Kansas City, MO, Edward Cain of La Mesa, CA, Graham Cain and wife Carolyn of Wichita, and Robert Cain and wife Janice, of Cathedral City, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and two sisters. A Memorial Service and Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 6th and Cedar in Coffeyville with Reverend W.E. Colbert officiating.
