Lucy Lee Weimer, 78, of rural Independence, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
She was born March 26, 1931 in Dewey, Oklahoma, to William H. and Maggie (Sams) Cape, and attended Bartlesville schools.
On February 14, 1977, in Miami, Oklahoma, she was united in marriage to Ron Weimer and he survives at the home. She was a Nursing Assistant, working locally in nursing homes, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center, and providing home care. She was very much loved by her patients.
She was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. She collected bears of all kinds, loved country living, her work, her clients, and most of all her family.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of the home; three sons, Rick Kosty of Coffeyville, Walt Kosty of Oklahoma, and Calvin "Sparky" Boyd, Jr. of Nebraska, one daughter, Patty Foster of Coffeyville; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Paul, and a sister, Maggie.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, Kansas with Rev. Wayne Martin of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville officiating.
Friends may call on Friday, June 26, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. at David W. Barnes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has requested memorial contributions to the American Heart Association; contributions may be left in care of funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
