Coffeyville - Ron D. Edens, 55, of rural Caney passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2009. He was born October 25, 1953, at Coffeyville to Doyle "Dick" and Pauline (Brown) Edens. Ron grew up in the Caney area where he attended school graduating from Caney High School in 1972. In 1994 he married Vicki Gourley at Park City, KS. Following their marriage they lived in Caney until moving to their home northeast of Caney in September 2008. Ron was employed with the City of Caney for many years. He was an active member of the Tyro Christian Church, where he enjoyed singing with the Forgiven Trio and the Frye Brothers. Ron was an active Chuck Wagon racer, belonging to the Arkansas Church Wagon Racing Association and the Mid-West Chuck Wagon Associating. For five years he organized the Chautauqua Hills Chuck Wagon Races at the Red Buffalo Ranch northwest of Sedan. Survivors include his wife, Vicki of the home; two daughters, Robyn Edens of Baytown, TX, and Casey Cartmell of El Dorado, KS; one son, Daniel Duff of Peru, KS; three brothers, Jim Edens of Peru, KS, Richard Edens of Texas City, TX, and Danny Edens of Cleveland, OK; one sister, Beverly Rollins of Bartlesville, OK; and eight grandchildren, Cale, Dillon, Addison, Jaggert, Felicity, Jarrett, and Kayelon. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 in the Tyro Christian Church with David Bycroft officiating. Burial will be in Fawn Creek Cemetery northeast of Tyro. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, and from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Tyro Christian Church. The family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church in Tyro. The family suggests memorials to the Tyro Christian Church Building Fund; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W.
