Corriene K. Thomas, age 63, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was born on February 27, 1946 in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma to Oscar Frank and Margaret Ellen (Hopkins) Petyon. She attended school at Coffeyville, where she lived most of her life.
In 1959, she married Franklin T. Byrd, Sr., they were later divorced. On October 5, 1990 she married Jackie Thomas, he preceded her in death on March 3, 1996.
Corriene worked at Colonial Terrace and Medicalodge as a CNA/CMA. She was a member of the Baptist Church and the Eagles Ladies Auxillary. She loved to camp and spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by five daughters, Wanda Holaday of South Coffeyville, OK; Lori Byrd of Coffeyville; Belinda Rutherford, of Coffeyville, Sarah Ammerman of Coffeyville, and Teresa Douglas of Wann, OK; one son, Franklin T. Byrd, Jr., of Tulsa, OK; one step-son, Andy Byrd of Bartlesville, OK; one granddaughter, Towanna Byrd of Coffeyville, whom she raised; three brothers, Frank Peyton of Independence, KS; Bill Peyton of Bolivar and Dale Peyton of Grove, Oklahoma; three sisters, Barbara Abbott of Bartlesville, OK; Lois Whipple of Grandview, MO; and Kathy Berryman of Coffeyville; twenty grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She has been preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jackie Thomas; one son, Elvis Patrick Byrd; one brother, and two sisters.
Services will be Thursday, June 18 at 2:00pm at the First Baptist Church at 9th and Willow in Coffeyville with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating.
Friends may call Wednesday, June 17 between 9:00am and 9:00pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 7:00pm until 9:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Corriene's family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. Contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
