Matthew Paul "Matt" Swigart, 25, of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday (December 11, 2007) at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.
He was born July 8, 1982 at Coffeyville, to Jerry and Melinda (Sowell) Swigart. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 2000, and Coffeyville Community College in May 2007. While at CCC he was in the choir. He was currently a full time student in the Nursing program at Labette County Community College in Parsons.
Matt was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
Survivors include his fiance, Diedra Andrews of Coffeyville; his mother and step-father, Melinda and Roy Carr of rural Coffeyville; his father and step-mother, Jerry and Penny Swigart of Houston, TX; two sisters, Monica Logan of Coffeyville, and Briana Swigart of Lawrence, KS; maternal grandparents, Anita Sowell of Coffeyville, and Benny and Mardelle Sowell of Coffeyville; paternal grandparents, Carol and Richard Snow of Fall River, KS, and Gary and Mary Jane Swigart of Afton, OK; and step-grandparents, Wayne and Nadine Carr of rural Coffeyville, Dot Beeson of Coffeyville and Bill and Kathy Beeson of Houston, TX formerly of Independence.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday (December 14, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (December 15, 2007) at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. Inurnment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, following viewing on Thursday cremation will take place. Friends may sign the register book on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the University of Kansas Medical Center or Ronald McDonald House; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
