Ronald Eugene Hoggatt, 53, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.
He was born September 16, 1955 at Coffeyville to Harley Jack and Naomi Lee (Smith) Hoggatt. He grew up east of Coffeyville where he attended elementary school at Clymore School and Angola School. He graduated from Labette County High School at Altamont.
On June 29, 1990 he married Sharon Lee Newkirk at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Ronald was employed as a custodian with U.S.D. #445 at Roosevelt Middle School for several years until retiring due to his health. Sharon preceded him in death on November 16, 1996.
Music was Ronald's passion; he played drums with several area groups. For 14 years he was the drummer at Country Time Music Theater with the Yeubanks family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, car racing and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Christopher Daniel Hoggatt of Missouri; his mother, Naomi Hoggatt of Coffeyville; one brother, Donald J. Hoggatt of Coffeyville; one sister, Patricia R. Warren of Coffeyville; two grandchildren, Tatiana Hoggatt and Kenion Hoggatt both of Missouri; five nephews, David Hoggatt, Kevin (Kasey) Hoggatt, Donnie (Emmalee) Hoggatt, Travis Warren, and Matt Warren; one niece, Brittany Hoggatt; three great-nieces, Raisa Hoggatt, Audrey Hoggatt, and Alyssa Hoggatt; and one great-nephew Larson Hoggatt. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Hoggatt, and one brother, Daniel Marvin Hoggatt.
Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 in the Union Cemetery East of Coffeyville, with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating.
Friends may call on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
