Russell Jay Morris, 46, of Coffeyville passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009 at his home.
He was born September 10, 1963 in Great Falls, Montana to James E. "Jim" and Mary Frances (Miller) Morris. Russ grew up and attended school in Great Falls, moving to Coffeyville with his family in 1970 where he completed high school. Following high school he joined the U.S. Army after receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Coffeyville.
On March 10, 1990 he married Debbie Shamblin in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, where he was employed at Acme Foundry for many years. Russ renovated many houses and was well known as a handyman. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to almost anyone who needed the help he was able to give.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of the home; one daughter, Jennifer of Bartlesville, OK; three step-sons, Mike Reed, Tim Reed, and Donald Reed all of Coffeyville; his father and step-mother, James "Jim" and Carol Morris of Coffeyville; three brothers, Kenneth (Ellen) Morris of Topeka, KS, Mark (Kathy) Morris of Deer Trail, CO, and Steven (Kelly) Morris of Jonesboro Georgia; two sisters, Deanna (Bruce) Showalter of Independence, KS, and Holly Martz of Coffeyville; seven step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Amazing Grace Chapel in Coffeyville with Pastor Gary Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to Amazing Grace Chapel; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
