Carl Curtis Pevehouse, 80, of Coffeyville, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Windsor Place in Coffeyville.
He was born November 10, 1928 at Coffeyville to Javan and Gusta (Armstrong) Pevehouse. Carl grew up and attended school in Coffeyville, graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1947, and Coffeyville Junior College in 1949. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1951 with a BS degree in Education. While in high school and college Carl was active in football, basketball, and baseball. He played semi-pro baseball in Coffeyville and Blackwell, OK.
In 1950 he married Phyllis Crane at Bentonville, AR. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Carl was employed at Page Milk Company as a Grade A Supervisor. Carl was later employed as Sales Manager and Manager of the Computer Center before becoming Co-owner of Computer Associates where he worked until retiring in 1991.
Carl was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, sports and spending time with his family, for many years Carl coached Ban Johnson Baseball, Little League Baseball, Basketball teams.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Pevehouse of the home; two daughters, Linda Rewerts of Baton Rouge, LA, Carla Herring and husband Bob of Coffeyville; one son, Jon Pevehouse and wife Betsy of Chicago, IL; six grandchildren, Brady Rewerts and wife, Kacee of Phoenix, AZ, Breann Herring and Bobbi Herring both of Denver, CO, Brooke Herring of Stillwater, OK, Claire Pevehouse and Ava Pevehouse both of Chicago, IL; two sister-in-law's, Margie Pevehouse of Orlando, FL, and Louise Elder of Farmer's Branch, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Ruby Pevehouse Smith; and two brothers, Alvin Pevehouse and J.D. Pevehouse.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Collins officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
