Cecil L. Hestand, 88, of Coffeyville, passed away Thursday, May, 14, 2009 at Windsor Place.
He was born September 16, 1920 at Cedar Vale, KS to Luther and Flora Hestand. He grew up and attended school in Cedar Vale.
On May 18, 1941 he married Nova Webber at Latham, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in the Latham and Cedar Vale area where Cecil worked on Ranches. In 1944 they moved to Coffeyville where he was a driver for Sunflower Stages and Kansas Trailways bus lines, he was later employed as a route driver for Pepsi Cola, before going to work at Funk Mfg Co. He retired from Funk Mfg. in the 1980's as a supervisor in the deburring department. Nova preceded him in death in 1992.
In September 1999 he married Wilma Peak, she preceded him in death.
Cecil enjoyed fishing, listening to Country Western music, watching Bull riding, and riding horses.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith White of Coffeyville, and Joyce Ann Lutz of Centerview, MO; one brother, Delbert Hestand of Wichita; nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Lloyd Hestand; one daughter, Jannis Marie Powell; two brothers, Lewis Hestand and Elvis Hestand; and one sister, Willa Dean Morrow.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Assoc.; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
