Gayle L. Bradley, 78, of Largo, FL, former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2009 in Largo, FL.
He was born June 13, 1930 in Dodge City, KS to Leonard Charles and Gaye Ethel Bradley. He moved to Coffeyville with his family when he was young. Gayle graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1949.
Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after receiving an honorable discharge he returned to Kansas and enrolled at Pittsburg State University graduating with a degree in education. After completing school he taught 5th grade in Claflin, KS for several years until returning to Coffeyville when he started working for the City of Coffeyville at the Light and Power Plant. Gayle worked in all capacities in the Light and Power Department, retiring as Director in 1990 under then City Manager, Glen Weldon.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Eva Bradley of the home; one son, Curtis Bradley of Largo, FL; one sister, Nora Jean Martindale of Coffeyville; one grandson Kyle Bradley of Largo, FL; eight nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Walter "Bud" Bradley and Charles Norman Bradley; and one sister, Wanda Lamb.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville with Dr. Wayne Norton officiating. Burial will be in the Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
