C. William "Bill" Fletcher, 77. of South Coffeyville, OK passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, OK.
He was born April 19, 1932 in South Coffeyville, to Merle and Dana (Webb) Fletcher. He grew up and attended school in South Coffeyville.
On April 20, 1950 he married Helen Jean Kelley at Nowata, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where they raised their family and Bill was employed at Coffeyville Packing Co. for many years before going to work in the packing and shipping division at Sherwin-Williams, he also served as custodian at the First Southern Baptist Church for many years. They were also foster parents for over 26 years. In 2001 they moved to South Coffeyville, where he worked as custodian at the South Coffeyville School.
Mr. Fletcher was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. He was also a member of the South Coffeyville School Booster Club. When he wasn't working Bill enjoyed reading, camping, archery, micro midget racing, treasure hunting and Oklahoma University sports.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Jean of the home; four daughters, Linda Powell and husband Jay , Luanne Wyrick and husband Floyd, Cindy Garretson and husband Rick all of South Coffeyville, and Theresa Fletcher of Tulsa, OK; two sons, Terry Dennis Fletcher and wife Diane of Derby, KS, and Bob Melton and wife Kathy of Joplin, MO; one sister, fourteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and triplet grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the First Southern Baptist Church in Coffeyville. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, the South Coffeyville School or the First Southern Baptist Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
Friends may sign the register book on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, May 1, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
