Clyde Norval "Red" Myatt, 72, of Coffeyville, formerly of Graham, TX, passed away Saturday morning, April 25, 2009 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1937 at Graham, TX, to Charlie Claude and Martha Elizabeth (Loftis) Myatt. He grew up and attended school in Young County, TX graduating from Newcastle High School in Newcastle, TX. Following high school he attended Paris Junior College in Paris, TX.
In October 1957 he married Etta Eaton. Following their marriage they made their home and raised their family in Simla, CO. They were later divorced.
While in Simla, he served as Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department, was town marshal, a deputy for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department, was an EMT and helped obtain the first ambulance in Simla, served as president of the Simla Lions Club, announced sporting events at Simla High School, and wrote sports for the Simla Newspaper.
Red was a General Contractor working on many construction projects in many states. When he wasn't working he enjoyed water skiing, Nascar Racing, watching football games, and spending time with his family.
Red was a member the Baptist Church in Newcastle, TX.
Survivors include one son, Norvil Myatt and his wife Pam of Eaton, CO; one daughter, Cheryl Myatt of Coffeyville; his twin brother, Claude Myatt of Graham, TX; his ex-wife, Etta Gaut of Diamond, MO; four grandchildren, Courtney Myatt of Ft. Collins, CO, Chance Myatt of Wichita, Brett Myatt and Wade Myatt both of Eaton, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, HL Myatt; one sister Thelma Cogburn; one nephew Lenny Myatt and one great-nephew, Derek Myatt.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Newcastle, TX. Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
