Raymond H. Williams Sr., 69, of rural Chautauqua, died Monday (November 4, 2013) at the Sedan City Hospital in Sedan.
He was born March 19, 1944 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Archie G. Williams Sr. and Gladys M. (Moon) Williams. He attended school in Boulanger and graduated from Bowring High School.
On July 3, 1965 he married Geraldine Sanders in Sedan, Kansas. They made their home in rural Chautauqua all of their life. He worked as an Oil Producer and his hobby was his love for his cattle. He raised many livestock throughout the years and was accompanied by several of his beloved Boston terriers. He will be missed by his latest dog Spencer.
Raymond was a member of the Chautauqua Baptist Church where he was a past deacon and had many roles in the church. He loved fishing, hunting, working in the oil field, gardening, and his cows. He also enjoyed their home away from home in Branson for the past few years. The most important thing to him was his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Williams of the home in rural Chautauqua, Kansas; one daughter, Sheri Beeson and husband Ben of Tyler, Texas; two sons, Raymond H. "Bub" Williams Jr. and wife Sandi of rural Chautauqua, Kansas, and Doug Lacy and wife Jennifer of St. Paul, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Ashley Williams, Katelin Beeson, Christine Jones, Clint Williams, Tanner Williams, Corran Lacy and Donnegan Lacy; two sisters; Retha Moore of Pea Ridge Arkansas, and Julia Windsor of Casper, Wyoming; three brothers, John Williams of Sedan, Kansas, Roy Williams of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and Jim Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, and his parents.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chautauqua Baptist Church in Chautauqua, Kansas with Brother Kevin Fogerty and Earl Tresner officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorials to the Sedan City Hospital and contributions may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
