Fred A. Kriebel, 92, of rural Havana former longtime Coffeyville resident, passed away Sunday morning, April 12, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 12, 1916 west of Coffeyville to Arthur and Nellie (Swanson) Kriebel. He grew up and attended rural schools west of Coffeyville.
On June 8, 1940, he married Edith Marie Griswold at Independence. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Fred was a Shipping/Receiving Foreman at Funk Mfg. Co. (now John Deere Coffeyville Works) where he was employed for many years retiring in 1979. After his retirement they continued to make their home in Coffeyville until moving to Havana Lake 12 years ago. Mrs. Kriebel preceded him in death on February 3, 2006.
Mr. Kriebel enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, cooking and spending time with his family.
Survivors include, one daughter, Judith Roeder and her husband Delbert of Havana Lake, rural Havana; three brothers, Marvin Kriebel of Bernice, Oklahoma, Robert Kriebel of Coffeyville, and John Kriebel of Wyoming; two sisters, Helen Nice of Valley Center, Kansas, and Doris Butts of Seattle, Washington; three grandchildren, Serenia Bilby, Jeffery Fred Roeder, and Timothy and Karla Roeder all of Coffeyville; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Norton of the First Baptist Church in Coffeyville officiating.
Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
