Coffeyville - Jim L. Tucker, 70, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born March 15, 1939 at Coffeyville to James Fred and Edna Ruth (Walton) Tucker. He grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1957. Following high school he attended Coffeyville Community College.
On December 28, 1968 he married Nedra Collins at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in the Coffeyville area.
Jim was a automotive mechanic, working for Coffeyville Motor Co., and other auto dealers for many years. He later taught the Automotive Service Technology Class at Coffeyville Community College Technical Campus for many years. Jim also taught the new employees for Cessna when the Independence facility was opened.
Survivors include his wife, Nedra of the home; two daughters, Terri (Bill) Mendenhall of St. Peters, MO, and Cathy (Mike) Reeves of Coffeyville; one brother, Gene (Mereda Kay) Tucker of Coffeyville; nine grandchildren, Liza Herbig, Bill Mendenhall, Cody Isle, Casey Isle, Jozie Reeves, MaKaelyn Reeves, Nikki Cates, Zach Reeves, and Lane Reeves; and six great-grandchildren, Alex, Sam, and Jacob Herbig; Cameron, and Maddi Mendenhall, Whyatt James Cates; a niece, Karen Shufeldt of Coffeyville; and a special cousin who when growing up was more like a little sister, Laura Burns of Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Linda Waggoner.
A Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in the Church of Christ in Coffeyville. Inurnment will be in the Jefferson Cemetery. Cremation has taken place.
Friends may call on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, or the CCC Automotive Service Technology Program; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
