Coffeyville - Bernadette Lucille Long, 81, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at Windsor Place. She was born July 1, 1927 in Coffeyville to William and Zada (Tweedie) Gerdes. She grew up and attended school in Coffeyville graduating from Field Kindley High School. On September 30, 1953 she married Charles E. Long at Bartlesville, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville. Bernadette was employed at Newberry's, Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., First Federal Savings and Loan and was an Avon representative for over 20 years. She was a member of the Avon Presidents Club. She had a passion for selling Avon, playing Bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Charles E. Long of the home; one son Mark E. Long of League City, TX; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Grace Fellowship, 2455 Woodland Ave., in Coffeyville, with Rev. Gerald Morris officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements.
