Obituary of Shirley Smith

Coffeyville - Shirley Darlene Smith, 78, of Coffeyville, KS, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Windsor Place in Coffeyville. She was born April 7, 1935 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Earl Moody and Inez (Norris) Moody. She attended school in Coffeyville, Kansas. On November 9, 1951 Shirley married Don E. Smith in Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in Coffeyville their entire married life where Shirley was a housewife and loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband on October 28, 2001. Shirley was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was very involved with her family and everything they were doing; she also liked gardening, reading, and traveling. She is survived by one daughter; Sherry Bunch and husband Wesley of Coffeyville, Kansas; two sons, Chris Smith of Coffeyville, Kansas and Mike Smith and wife Stephanie of Coffeyville, Kansas; one daughter-in-law Teresa Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Earl Moody of Augusta, Kansas, Don Moody of Florida; two sisters, Joyce Miller of California and Rosemary Thompson of Florida; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Don E. Smith, one son Rick Smith, and one grandson Zach Bromley. Family and Friends may call on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kansas. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas with Father Ben Nguyen of the Holy Name Catholic Church officiating. The family has suggested memorials to the Holy Name Catholic School and remembrances may be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home 306 N. Cline, Coffeyville, Kansas 67337.
