Alma R. Wyatt, age 90, of rural Cedar Vale, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 27, 2009 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She was born April 7, 1918 in Peru, Kansas to John W. and Nellie (Murcray) Bradford. She grew up and attended school until the eighth grade in Peru. She worked as a meat wrapper for Rodeo Packing Company in Arkansas City, Kansas before moving back to Chautauqua County.
On October 29, 1949 she married Roger Wyatt in Newkirk, Oklahoma. They made their home in Arkansas City, Kansas before moving to the farm north of Wauneta, Kansas, where she has made her home for the last fifty nine years. She was preceded in death by her husband in March 1966.
She loved to read about nature-wild animals and birds she also loved gardening, and working with flowers.
She is survived by one son, Bill Rutter of Cedar Vale, Kansas; one daughter, Alma Tallchief of Sedan, Kansas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roger Wyatt, her parents, one brother, and one sister, and one grandson.
The family has requested that there be no visitation and the casket will be closed.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Wauneta United Methodist Church and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
