Phyllis J. Spradling, age 64, of Sedan, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born October 24, 1944 in Sedan, Kansas to Maurice A. and Mary Ann (Logsdon) Hollister. She grew up and attended Sedan High School. She later received her GED. In 1964 she married David L. Spradling Sr. and they later divorced. She later resided with C.J. Wassom in Bowring, Oklahoma.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Les Reynolds in Bartlesville, Oklahoma before retiring.
She enjoyed the casinos, yard work, spending time with grandkids, music, dancing, and bowling.
She was a member of the Kansas Women's Bowling Association and the George Strait Fan Club.
She is survived by one son, David and wife Janice Spradling of rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one daughter, Vicki Miller of Sedan, Kansas; one sister, Thelma Potter of Coffeyville, Kansas; one brother, Pete Hollister of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; Allison Williams, Lauren Miller, Jesse and Justin Spradling, and Jason and Anna Spradling; and one great-grandchild, Evan Lee Butler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son Jerry Wayne Spradling.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan.
Following the visitation cremation will take place and a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Reverend Kevin Fogerty officiating.
Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Jesse and Justin Spradling Memorial Fund and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361 or the First National Bank of Sedan.
