Helen I. Caresio, 71, of Coffeyville, passed away Monday morning, February 2, 2009 at the Caney Nursing Center in Caney.
She was born July 20, 1937 in Coffeyville to John and Ethel "Pete" (Cosby) White. She grew up and attended grade school in South Coffeyville, and graduated from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville.
On June 17, 1961 she married Johnnie Caresio at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville, joining his Dad and Uncle at Caresio Brothers Distributing Co.
Helen was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed fishing on their pontoon boat, gardening and working outdoors, playing cards, going to the casino's, traveling in the Ozarks and Mississippi and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie of the home; two sons, John Caresio and wife Beth, and Pete Caresio and wife Tammy all of Coffeyville; one daughter, Joni Giesen and husband Rich of South Coffeyville; and nine grandchildren.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may sign the register book on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. The casket will be closed.
The family suggests memorials to Holy Name Catholic School; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
