Coffeyville - Karl Raye Maggard, 55, of Nowata, OK, formerly of Coffeyville, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born May 7, 1958, at Cleburne, TX, to James Homerlee "Homer" and Lottie (Ulmer) Maggard. Karl grew up and attended school in Burleson, TX. On September 17, 1976, he married Gloria Berry at Cleburne, TX. Following their marriage they made their home in Texas where they raised their three sons until moving to Coffeyville in 1995. Gloria preceded him in death on March 12 2001. Following his wife's death Karl moved to Oklahoma, moving to Nowata five years ago. On April 2, 2010, he married Linda (Cunningham) Schell at Nowata, OK. Following their marriage they made their home in Nowata. Karl was a residential and commercial building contractor in Texas. After his father retired he continued to build homes, nursing homes, and other construction projects in Texas. After his father's death he moved to Coffeyville and continued doing carpentry work and started a Landscaping and Lawn Service. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Linda of the home in Nowata; three sons, Scott Berry, Brian Maggard, and Homer Maggard all of Nowata, OK; four step-children, JoAnn Young of Oologah, OK, Billy Schell, George Schell, and Jennifer Schell all of Nowata, OK; his mother, Lottie Maggard of Bentonville, AR; three brothers, Dennis Maggard of Ratcliff, AR, James Maggard of Bentonville, AR, and Kenneth Maggard of Peggs, OK; five sisters, Elizabeth Maggard of Coffeyville, Christine Pape of Burleson, TX, Katy Maggard of Edna, Catherin Maggard of Bentonville, AR, and Charlotte Rene Yeubanks of Edna; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Karl was preceded in death by his father, Homer Maggard, his first wife, Gloria Maggard, and one granddaughter, Amber Lynn Maggard. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Southview Church of God in 326 State Line Road, South Coffeyville, OK with Rev. Wendell Abbott with the First Church of God in Nowata officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville. Friends may call on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
