Elizabeth Mae Wolfe, age 81, of Sedan, Kansas passed away Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Pleasant Valley Manor in Sedan, Kansas.
She was born May 7, 1927 in Cedar Vale, Kansas to Floyd C. and Martha Ellen (Randall) Wemmer. She attended and graduated from Sedan High School in 1945. She married Aubrey L. Lawson and they later divorced. She worked in Sedan, Kansas at the Corner Drug Store, and also at McGee's Grocery Store and the First National Bank. On August 5, 1979 she married Larry Wolfe in Sedan, Kansas where they made their home. She lived in Chautauqua County most of her life.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sedan and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She liked to sew, she made many cheerleading outfits and wedding dresses and she also loved the outdoors.
She is survived by her husband Larry Wolfe of the home in Sedan; two daughters; Carolyn Lawson of Sedan, Kansas and Mary Casady of Newberg, Oregon; one step-daughter, Connie Meyer of Greeley, Kansas; four step-sons; Dean Wolfe of Sedan, Kansas, Leonard Wolfe of Marysville, Kansas, Roger Wolfe of Topeka, Kansas and Melvin Wolfe of Perry, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and an honorary sister Judy Stout of Sedan, KS; first cousins Russel Wemmer of Sedan, Kansas and John Swinehart of Norwich, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Friends and Family may call on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas.
Church Service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sedan with Dr. J. Dean McNamara officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas.
The family has suggested memorials to the Meals on Wheels and the First Baptist Church of Sedan.
David W. Barnes Funeral Home of Sedan is in charge of arrangements.
