Mary Jo Hanna, age 80, of Coffeyville passed away Thursday (January 8, 2009) night at her home with her family by her side.
She was born on July 13, 1928 in Coffeyville to Ora and Hytha (Polk) McIntyre. Mary Jo grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Field Kindley Memorial High School in 1946.
On March 31, 1947 she and D.G. Hanna were married in Coffeyville where they made a home and started their family together.
She was a homemaker and drove a school bus for U.S. D. #445 over 27 years. Mary Jo was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, D.G. Hanna of the home; two sons, David (Rita) Hanna and James (Ricki) Hanna both of Coffeyville; one sister, Nadine Gott of Lucedale, Mississippi; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She has been preceded in death by one sister, Imogene Jones.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 13 at 2:00 at the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville with Diane Massey officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Monday, January 12 between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorials to the First Presbyterian Church and Harry Hynes Hospice. Contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
