Obituary of Carl Owens

Coffeyville - Carl E. Owens, age 95, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away Wednesday morning, January 7 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Carl was born on February 22, 1913 in Coffeyville to Edward and Lucinda Isabella (Robinson) Owens. He lived in Coffeyville for most of his life where he worked at the refinery in the Compounding Department until retiring after 44 years. 1n 1933 he married Ruby Coble in Miami, Oklahoma and they made their home together in Coffeyville. Carl was a member of the First Baptist Church where he was a member of the Joy-Vykota Sunday School Class. He also was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 123. He is survived by his wife, Ruby of the home; his son, Larry Owens and his wife Sue of Coffeyville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church (7th & Elm Streets in Coffeyville) at 10:00am on Friday, January 9, 2009 with Dr. Wayne Norton of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery Friends may call on Thursday, January 8 from 1:00pm to 9:00pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
