Obituary of Arthur D. Petty

Sedan - Arthur D. Petty, age 84, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Sedan, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Homestead Health Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born June 16, 1924 in Sedan, Kansas to Fred and Bertha Mae (Smith) Petty. He grew up and attended local schools in the Chautauqua County area. He worked for Greenwood County as a heavy equipment operator. For most of his life, he worked as a farmer. He was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army for over ten years. He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Burton of Wichita, Kansas; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roy Petty and one sister Viola Irene Hamilton. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Belknap Cemetery located South of Moline, Kansas with Hospice Chaplain Paul Danner officiating. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the Wichita Adventist Christian Academy and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N.
