William W. "Bill" Price, 83, of Liberty, passed away Sunday night, December 28, 2008 at his home.
He was born March 23, 1925 at Lenexa, Kansas to Myron H. and Elsa Gene (Rose) Price. He lived in several locations with his family before moving to rural Liberty where he completed his education graduating from Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville and attended Coffeyville Junior College.
On February 4, 1949 he married Virginia Bowers at Pittsburg, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Liberty. Bill was employed by Arco Pipeline for 30 years retiring in 1985.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale, the Knights of Columbus Council #8893 in Cherryvale, Joyce Kilmer 4th degree Knights of Columbus council # 0281 in Coffeyville, the Elk's Club in Parsons, Kansas Farm Bureau where he served on the Board, and was an active supporter and leader in 4-H.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia of the home; one son, Mike Price and wife JoAnn of Liberty; two daughters, Marsha Tackkett and husband Frank of Grove, OK, and Roseanne Vining and husband Vic of Brandon, MS; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cherryvale with Father Stephen Thapwa
officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Liberty.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 30 from noon to 5:00 pm at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
The family suggests memorial to Ronald McDonald House in Wichita or the National Kidney Foundation; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 N. Cline Rd., Coffeyville, KS 67337.
