Sedan - Virginia Mary Daniel Bays, 91, of Sedan, died on December 6, 2008, at SedanCity Hospital. Virginia was born to Andrew J. and Minnie (Davis) Daniel on October 17,1917, at Richards, Colorado. She married W. Darrell Bays at Hugoton, KS, in1934. Virginia was a homemaker, quilter, gardener and a lover of animals.She worked in hospitals in Colorado and Kansas as an LPN. She and Darrellfarmed for a number of years in the Powell Valley area of Chautauqua County. She is survived by five children: Doris (Dick) Maley, Fountain Hills, AZ;James (Patty) Bays, Overland Park, KS; Jackson (Shelley) Bays, Danville, CA;Wayne (Bonnie) Bays, Wellington, CO; and Joe (Sharon) Bays, Los Angeles, CA.Ten grandchildren survive: Shelly, Greg, Mimi, Jasmine, Margaret, Daniel,Christopher, Aimee, Mark and Darrell. Seventeen great grandchildrensurvive. She is also survived by a nephew, Hugh Glenn Sutton, Sun City, AZand two nieces, Dorthy Fee, Fruita, CO, and Betty Kolb, Hotchkiss, Colorado.Also surviving are her niece Emily Bruner and her husband, Jim of Sedan. Preceding her in death were an infant daughter, Lois, two sisters, Jewell Sutton and Winnie Kascak, a brother, Wyatt Daniel, and one grand-daughterLisa Bays. In recent years, Virginia's close companion has been her beloved parrotBaby. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family has suggested memorials to the Hollow in Sedan and can be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
