He was born October 2, 1932, at Girard, KS, to Benedict Michael and Mamie (Flanel) Peak. Benny grew up and attended school at Girard, graduating from Girard High School. On June 21, 1952, he married Teresa Marie Balfay at St. Paul, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in the Girard area until moving to the South Coffeyville, OK area in December 1960, making their home east of Lenapah before moving to their ranch in rural Delaware, OK. Benny was a farmer and rancher in Nowata County for many years. His wife preceded him in death on April 23, 1982. Benny was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. He was a member of Kanoma Co-op Assoc. for over 50 years and longtime member of their Board of Directors, served as Livestock Supervisor of the Nowata County Fair, the Oklahoma Cattleman's Assoc., and Honorary Life Member of the Oklahoma Union High School FFA Chapter. Benny enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, going to rodeos, the horse races at Sallisaw, OK, and traveling. But his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and working with young people, especially those involved in FFA and 4-H.
