Sedan - Letha Sanborn, age 81, of Sedan, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born January 7, 1926 in rural Peru, Kansas to Hazel and Laura (Williams) Todd. She grew up in Peru and attended Peru High School until the ninth grade. She married Jack Culver in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Donald Sanborn. He preceded her in death in 1987. She has lived in the Sedan area all of her life. She was a cook for the Unified School District #286 in Sedan for thirty years. She attended church at the First Baptist Church of Sedan. She loved all animals, especially cats. She is survived by one brother, Donald Todd of Coffeyville, Kansas; two grandchildren, Angy Harris of Wichita, Kansas and Andy Robison of Sedan, Kansas and two great-grandchildren, Preston Shull of Sedan, Kansas and Jamell Harris of Wichita, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, two daughters and one brother. Cremation has taken place and friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2007 and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 23, 2007, at the First Baptist Church of Sedan, Kansas with Reverend J. Dean McNamara officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Chautauqua County Animal Shelter and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
