Robert Leo "Bob" Benning, 71, of rural Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Chetopa Manor in Chetopa, KS.
He was born December 27, 1936 in rural Coffeyville to Robert Henry "Roy" and Margaret (Miller) Benning. He grew up in rural Montgomery and Labette County attending school at Blackford School, Mound Valley, and graduated from Labette County High School.
On October 31, 1958 he married RDella Beaty at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Coffeyville where Bob farmed and was a welder at Parmac. Following his retirement he continued to farm.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and the machinist union at Parmac.
Survivors include his wife RDella Benning of the home; one daughter, LaDonna Coffield of rural Coffeyville; six sisters, Mildren Crow of Muskogee, OK, Pat Koscelny of Delaware, OK, Mary Hall of Spring, TX, Frances Stall of Clarksville, AR, Lucy Livingston of Nowata, OK, Christina Beason of rural Edna, KS, two brothers, Paul Edward Benning and George Benning both of rural Coffeyville; and one grandson Dakota Coffield of rural Coffeyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, John Joseph Benning and William Raymond Benning.
A Rosary Vigil Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Coffeyville.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ben Nguyen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coffeyville.
Friends may call on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville
