Sedan - Gertrude M. Kirchner, age 88, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday morning, November 14, 2007 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born September 5, 1919 in Wellston, Oklahoma to Ben and Eva (Hamilton) Cobble. She attended school in Cooper, Oklahoma and in Kaw City, Oklahoma. She married Joe Henry "Big Boy" Kirchner on January 28, 1946 in Sedan, Kansas. After their marriage, they moved to rural Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where she has lived for the past sixty years. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1999. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Sedan and the Elgin Busy Bees. She worked on the election board in Osage County, Oklahoma for many years. She was also a charter member of the Chautauqua County Historical and Genealogy Society. She is survived by two sons, Bobby Kirchner and Joe Kirchner, both of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mary Lou Farnsworth of Ponca City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe "Big Boy", one brother and two sisters. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Monday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 19, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Sedan with Pastor James Hager officiating. Interment will follow at the Pawhuska Cemetery in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the American Heart Association and these remembrances may be left in care of David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
