Lola M. Wade, 87, of Parsons, former longtime Havana and Montgomery County resident passed away Thursday morning, November 6, 2008 at Woodridge Estates in Parsons.
She was born February 8, 1921 in rural Havana in the Deer Creek Community to Arthur "Pat" and Gladys (Augustine) Cummin. She grew up near Havana and received her education at Deer Creek School and Havana Schools.
On October 10, 1936 she married Dennis "Bus" Wade at Niotaze, KS. Following their marriage they made their home in Montgomery County until moving to their home in Havana in 1950. Her husband preceded her in death in 1998
In the 1950's and 1960's she worked at Electra Manufacturing Co. in Independence. For many years she was the dispatcher for the Havana Volunteer Fire Dept. However, her favorite job was being a wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Nutter of Parsons; one brother Donald Cummin of Dewey, OK; twelve grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Arthur Wade; two daughters, Saundra McElhaney and Phyllis Wade; one sister, and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the Assembly of God Church in Caney with her nephew Rev. Darren Wade officiating. Burial will be in the Havana Cemetery at Havana, KS.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Caney.
The family suggests memorials to the Havana Volunteer Fire Department; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road, Coffeyville, KS 67337.
