Obituary of Carl Hollingshead

Coffeyville - Carl L. Hollingshead, 64, of Coffeyville, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. He was born August 22, 1944 at Kansas City, Kansas to Walter and Betty (Potter) Hollingshead. He grew up and attended school in Edgerton and Wellsville, Kansas. On April 21, 2001 he married Linda (Parker) Shay at Las Vegas, Nevada. Following their marriage they made their home in Las Vegas until moving to Coffeyville in 2005. He was a carpenter employed in both residential and commercial construction. Carl attended the Church of Christ with his wife. He was a member of the Handyman Club in Las Vegas, and enjoyed watching football. Survivors include four sons, James of Olathe, Walter of Edgerton, Travis of Osawatomie, and Scott of Bonner Springs; two daughters, Thressa Cuin and Karla Hollingshead both of Chanute; two step-sons, Travis Shay and Nathan Shay both of Kansas City, Missouri; one step-daughter, Pamela Johnson of Coffeyville; one brother, Roy Hollingshead of Las Vegas, NV; three step-brothers, James Reed of Edgerton, Guy Reed and Kike Reed both of Olathe; 21 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Church of Christ in Coffeyville with Pastor Clint Howard officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville. Following the visitation cremation will take place. David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville is in charge of arrangements.
