Harold Hayden Tedford, 84, of Coffeyville, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at his home.
He was born July 15, 1929, in Tulsa, OK, to John Carr Tedford and Charlotte Faye (Lewellen) Tedford. Harold grew up and attended rural schools south of Chetopa.
Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He married Ida Bortz, of Burley, Idaho, in 1950 and they made their home wherever his construction work took them. They later settled in Bartlett, Kansas. They had two children, John and Glenda. In 1985 they divorced.
Harold was a union ironworker and welder, working on large construction projects throughout the United States.
He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Harold loved to listen and dance to country music, especially Bob Wills and his western-swing style. Harold also loved to listen to good fiddlers.
Survivors include one son, John Tedford and wife Amber of Tulsa, OK; two daughters, Glenda Leemaster and husband Larry of Moore, OK, and Christy Silva and husband Larry of Acampo, CA; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Shannon Rohr and husband Matt and their children, Tanner, Madison, and Peyton; Larry Silva; Brett Leemaster and wife Alesha and their son, Luke; Amanda Couch and husband Josh and their children, Tyra, Jacob and Joel; Kyle Leemaster and wife Brittany; Lynsey Leemaster; and Hayley Murphy and husband Andrew and their daughter, Kali.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harvey Carr Tedford, and Sheldon Ray "Chuck" Tedford.
Harold was cremated, per his wishes, and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.
