Irene Augusta (Raasch) Bachman, 81, of Coffeyville passed away Tuesday morning, October 14, 2008 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
She was born August 17, 1927 at Lahoma, Oklahoma to Theodore and Katherine (Wienberg) Raasch. She moved with her family to Valeda, Kansas in 1938 where she completed her education, graduating from Labette County High School at Altamont in 1945. After completing high school she was employed at Condon National Bank.
On June 4, 1950 she married Leonard Bachman at Coffeyville. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville.
Mrs. Bachman worked at the Coffeyville Chamber of Commerce from 1979 until retiring in 1996.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Priscilla Guild, CRMC Auxiliary (Pink Lady) CRC Square Dance Club, and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross Bloodmobile.
Mrs. Bachman enjoyed sewing, bowling, and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard Bachman of the home; one son, Ronald Bachman and wife Marlene of Coffeyville, KS; two daughters, Linda Cook and husband Dan of rural South Coffeyville, OK, and Carol Wehmeyer and husband Gerald of rural Coffeyville, KS; and five grandchildren, Brian Bachman, Mark Bachman, Chad Cook, Melissa Cook, and Brent Wehmeyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Earl, Elmer, Erwin, and Ray Raasch; and one sister, Selma Liermann.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2008, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Coffeyville with Rev. Richard Peckman officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to CRMC Auxiliary or St. Paul's Lutheran Church; contributions may be left with the funeral home or mailed c/o David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 306 North Cline Road., Coffeyville, KS 67337
