Coffeyville -
Marion Gilbert Wooldridge, 73, of Coffeyville, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home.
He was born September 6, 1935 at Dearing, KS to Novel E. and Ethel Mae (Wickham) Wooldridge. Gilbert grew up in Coffeyville where he attended Lowell, and Whittier Elementary Schools and graduated from Field Kindley High School.
In November 1953 he joined the U.S. Army serving with Company B 813th EAB at Elmendorf, Alaska. After receiving his honorable discharge in October 1955 he returned to Coffeyville to make his home.
In 1957 he married Judith J. "Judy" Yockey at Miami, Oklahoma. Following their marriage they made their home in Coffeyville where Gilbert was employed at OK Electric and later worked as a Shipping Clerk at Pressure Cast.
Gilbert enjoyed time spent with his family, especially camping and fishing, he also enjoyed spending time with the "Over the Hill Gang" working on hot rods, and race cars.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home; two daughters, Brenda Manley of South Coffeyville, OK, and Kimberly Lain and husband Rick of South Coffeyville, OK; two brothers, Elvin Eugene "Dick" Wooldridge of Morgan City, LA, and Don Lee Wooldridge of Edna, KS; and four grandchildren, Amanda Tubbs and husband Jeremy, Samantha Monday, Derrick Manley and Clinton Wilmoth. He was preceded in death by his parents, one half-sister, Marvel Lee Walters, and one half-brother, Robert William Carver.
Graveside Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Veterans Patio in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Mike Graham, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Chaplain officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the U.S. Army, Fort Riley, KS.
Friends may sign the register book on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
