Obituary of Vianna Mae Fesler

Sedan - Vianna Mae Fesler, age 101, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away peacefully Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the Timberlake Care Center in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born October 13, 1906 to Ernest and Winifred May (Alton) Fittro in Sestes, Oklahoma. She was the third of four children born to the union and was preceded in death by sisters, Sarah Swinney and Ila Fields and one brother Reynold Fittro. Her father remarried after Winifred's death, and one son, Otis E. Fittro was born to this union. Otis passed away in 1990. She lived the majority of her life in Sedan, Kansas. She moved from Sedan to Villa Ventura Independent Living Center in Kansas City, Missouri in 2000 and to her daughter's home in February of 2007, before moving to Timberlake Care Center until the time of her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Everett Fesler in 1986. She is survived by her only daughter, Margaret (Fesler) Ewing of Kansas City, Mo; four grandchildren: Craig Ewing of Kansas City, Mo, Bart and his wife Ginny Ewing of Kansas City, Mo, Cynthia (Ewing) Winkleman and husband David of Katy, Tx, Kent Ewing and wife Mary of Hong Kong; Seven great-grandchildren: Eric and Ryan Ewing of St. Louis, Mo, Ian and Hannah Ewing of Kansas City, Mo, Alex Winkleman of Katy, Tx, and Scott and Jackie Ewing of Hong Kong. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church. She was a 50 year plus member of the Vesper Chapter 148 Order and also a 50 year plus member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She served as president of Sedan Ladies Organization of the Sedan Country Club for 5 years. She was a member of Alatea Study Club and served as president in 1992 and 1993. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed creating gifts for friends and family. She also enjoyed a good game of bridge and played weekly until her accidental fall in 2006. The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for their help and also Carl, Lisa, and Carol of Senior Helpers. Friends may call Monday thru Friday September 15-19 to sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Sedan, Kansas. Church Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Sedan with Dr. J. Dean McNamara officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the First Baptist Church and those remembrances can be left at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361
