Zeb I. Hart, age 88, of Grenola, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the Pleasant Valley Manor Nursing Home in Sedan, Kansas.
Zeb was born to Tom and Jessie (Morris) Hart on August 7, 1920 in Hardy, Oklahoma. He attended schools at Hardy and Arkansas City, Kansas. He was a medic for the United States Army in World War II during the Normandy Invasion. He met his wife Marila Johnson while working the Olsen Ranch in Hardy, Oklahoma. They were married April 20, 1947. They began their married life in Hardy and moved to a ranch south of Grenola, Kansas in the fall of 1947.
He was a life-long rancher/stockman who loved the land and passed that love on to his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cedar Vale, Kansas. Zeb and Marila retired to Cedar Vale before coming back home to the ranch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Marila of the home in Grenola, Kansas; one daughter, Lessie and husband Dwight Thompson of Grenola, Kansas; grandchildren, Cristine and husband Shawn Noland of Arkansas City, Kansas, Curtis and wife Vivian Thompson and Amy and husband Kelly Jarboe; great-grandchildren, Quentin, Lindsay, and Trey Noland, Kord and Karli Jarboe, Mandy and Damon Wolfe, Erica and Jake Horton and Garrett Green; great-great-grandchildren, Ashley and Haze Wolfe.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a committal service at the family ranch, 8:00 a.m., Saturday, September 13, 2008. Following will be a Memorial Service at the First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale, Kansas at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors Gary Boles and Mark Davis officiating.
The family has suggested memorial contributions to First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale or the Belknap Community Church of Moline. Contributions may be made directly to the churches.
